ABOUT THE FOUNDER​

Dr. Marja Voleman, PhD.​

​

PhDr. Marja Annemiek Voleman, PhD is a specialist in Neuro-Developmental Stimulation (NDS) focused on retained primary reflexes and school readiness. Born in the Netherlands, she has lived in Prague since 1999. She studied Physiotherapy and Special Education at Charles University (Prague) and in 2020 defended her doctoral dissertation, Neuro-Developmental Stimulation in the work of a special education teacher. She is the founder of Cortex Academy®, runs the Cortex Help consulting practice, and has taught courses and seminars on NDS since 2009.

Marja established the Institute of Neuro-Developmental Therapy and Stimulation in 2015; the organisation has since grown and was renamed Cortex Academy in 2022. Alongside clinical and training work, she writes for parents and professionals about primary reflexes, NDS and child development.

​She is the author of several books, including Persistent Primary Reflexes – a Neglected Factor in Learning and Behaviour Problems (in czech.), Theoretical Foundations of the NDS Method (in czech), Dyslexia! Or Not? (in czech), and NDS Active Learning – Unlocking Potential through Neuro-Developmental Stimulation (in english). Her publications page also lists selected professional/academic articles and links to her dissertation. ​​
